What I like best about this book is it makes my students think. Each chapter ends with some thought provoking questions related to the chapter. Many of the topic headings begin with a question, so right away you know to signal your brain to start thinking critically. The stories are interesting and keep my ESL students engaged. Also, the assortment of stories are written at a level that is within their grasp. I think this book would work well for native speakers as well. I enjoyed all the topics, but I was especially entertained by the Living Dangerously narrative. More stories, please!Product details

Great book.
Love it, small easy to carry around and short stories which re great.
As an ESL teacher, I’m always looking for ways to help my adult students read more. This book is perfect for them. The stories are interesting and current, and the simplified vocabulary helps them to keep reading. I like that every unit includes a few thought-provoking questions that continue the conversation started by the story. This would be great for a class to read together or for independent reading.
Of course I liked BIG IDEAS. My daugher wrote it.
It's an easy read yet still thought provoking. What a wonderful tool to promote dialogue and establish critical thinking. This would be helpful in many learning environments, not just with ESL students. I highly recommend this for educators and casual readers alike. I would like to see more from this author.
Interesting reading that wasn’t painstakingly difficult to read. I learned about new topics not just language. I also paid more attention on some linguistic details than I normally do. I realized that many times the preposition or some other detail was not the one I would had thought it to be. Things to learn, paths to travel! The only thing that wasn’t so cool in my eyes was how the cover was designed. But things like that are personal likes or dislikes. I would recommend!
